Growing Up | George F. Drake

In my early years, from birth to about age 17 I was still maturing and ‘growing up’. These years were shaping my values and giving me the parameters for future action.

I have divided these early years into a discussion of the family background, (the old folks) a discussion of the places we lived, Irvington, N.J. and then Manasquan, N.J. and a discussion of my formal education in those two places. Since I feel Scouting had an essential role in the formation of my social values I have given it a special discussion.
